Biography

Simone Liotta was born in Catania on 21st of February, 1992. He is an Italian musician, keyboardist, composer and sound designer. He graduated at the BA in Electronic Music at the Music Institute "Vincenzo Bellini” in Catania, and now he is studying for is MA. He is the admin of the official Facebook page of Nord Keyboards Italia, and he is a programmer of sound libraries for the same company. His cultural background ranges from Classical to Jazz, Blues, Funk, R & B, Soul, Synthwave, Pop and Computer Music. He took part in the concerts of the Music Institute "Vincenzo Bellini” of the summer of 2013 at Castello Ursino in Catania, performing pieces of the Sonic Arts Union (collective of experimental musicians who was active between 1966 and 1976), in particular "Accidents" by Larry Austin, for electronically prepared piano, ring modulator, mirrors, actions, black light and projections. With the blues band "The Cadillac Records" he won the emerging band music competition "Rumori Barocchi", at the 2013 edition of Carnevale di Acireale. With the Electro-Funk band "Grovy-era" , he played at the opening of Spazio Musicale", the first rehearsal hall and recording studio in Acireale (Catania) and also won the "Rumori Barocchi" competition for the Band Experience section with this band in 2013. He took part in the 2014 Concert Season organized by the Music Institute " Vincenzo Bellini " at the Benedictine Monastery of Catania, performing the song "Wave Train" by David Behrman together with the teacher Renato Messina. In 2015 he obtained the first level academic qualification (Bachelor of Arts) in "Electronic Music" with a score of 110/110 and honors In 2015 he was hired by the company "Costa Crociere" with the qualification of “Orchestral on board” in the "Costa Mediterranea" ship. In 2016 he was called for the artistic direction of the performance "Wobble Message", included in the program "Progetto Kafka - Le Metamorfosi" at the Teatro Machiavelli in Catania. The project involved the creation of a piece of electronic music generated by numerical data extracted from a video in real time. In 2017 he presented the book "Ear Training", realized in collaboration with Riccardo Insolia (professor of Ear Training at the Music Institure “ Vincenzo Bellini” in Catania) and Massimo Leonardi (professor of Ear Training at the Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory of Palermo), at the Conservatory “Arrigo Boito” in Parma on the occasion of the workshop and forum "Sentiamoci a Parma”. He attempted the lectures of important Music professors, including Valdis Bernhofs (Ladvian Academy Of Music – Riga), Violaine De Larminat (Universität Für Musik Und Darstellende Kunst -Wien), Coralie Fayolle (Conservatoire National Superior - Paris), Elke Hofmann (Musik-Akademie- Basel), Alberto Odone (Conservatory "G. Verdi" - Milan), Ruta Paidere (Hochschule Für Musik Und Theater - Hamburg), Pierre Zurstrassen (Conservatoire Royal-Brussels).
